Hi Nancy! I was so glad to see your post. Glad you are here and welcome to the family! This site has up to 5 meetings every day (365) and is otherwise open for open chat 24/7. So I was terrified to walk in to my first meeting in the rooms, but I was at a point where I did not know what else to do. I had drank for a very long time but at the end…[Read more]

Asterli,
When I went to my first meeting, I was terrified and filled with self-loathing. One of the first things they told me is “We will love you until you can love yourself.” The people were so loving, compassionate, and friendly, I wished I hadn’t waited so long to get there. I kept going back and slowly, but surely, I started to love…[Read more]

I love what Sara said about “being in my own way.” It takes most of us a long time to figure that out. The good news is that this program works if you work it. There are up to 5 meetings a day on this site, and don’t forget face to face meetings where the real magic happens. Life in AA gets better and easier, just one day at a time, so don’t…[Read more]

Joanne replied to the topic Looking for an online sponser in the forum Women in Recovery Forums 7 years ago
Heather,
Most people in AA find a sponsor at a face to face meeting in their local area. I don’t know many people who have an on line sponsor, and the face to face one provides more accountability, is always there when you need them, etc. Hope that helps.

Ladies, you sound like I felt when I first got here. I was mad that I could not drink like a normal person. Then, I realized that a normal person had 1 or drinks. Well, that was the craziest thing I’d ever heard of. What is the point if you can only have 1 or 2? At that point, I knew that I could not control my drinking. It was an all or…[Read more]

Anonymous, I always tell the doctors and anesthesiologists that I am in recovery for alcoholism and that I try to be very careful with any opiods. They have never changed the anesthesia because of this. They always do the same thing they would have. It’s important to be honest with the medical professionals, but just as important to be honest…[Read more]

The meetings here are chat meetings and there are typically 3 – 4 a day. From the home page, go to Chat Meetings and look at the calendar at the left of your screen for times and topics. At all other times, this serves as an open chat room where people share and provide support. Hope that helps.

Hello Ladies!
Glad you are here and welcome to the family! Sorry I just now saw your messages. The best place to find a sponsor is at face to face meetings. If you Google AA meetings in your local area, you’ll find a schedule, location, and other details for those meetings. This site is a great resource, but the face to face meetings are where t…[Read more]

Hi Heather! Glad you are here and welcome to the family. This is a wonderful site with great people trying to stay sober one day at a time. I’ve been told that a face to face sponsor is the way to go, but you have to go to face to face meetings to get one. 🙂 If that is not possible in your area, please come to one of the many chat meetings on…[Read more]

Hello Ladies! I’ve been attending and chairing meetings on this website for a few months and decided to check out the “Women’s Recovery” part of this website. Happy to be here. One of the many things I have learned in AA is that I could not quit drinking on my own. Glad I found all you people in AA and my Higher Power to help keep me sober.
