Happy in recovery. I am blessed I found so many good new friends and AA that have helped me restart and maintain my sobriety. I am truly grateful and blessed at each one of these kind people that have helped me through the last week. After my recent relapse. Tonight they circled the wagons around me and kept me strong when faced with adversity.…[Read more]

It took me a little while to find one my insurance would cover, but I would have been willing to pay for it myself. It was worth it. And the AA meetings that followed are a Godsend. I am so grateful. I pray for your success with this!

I’m Beth and I’m an alcoholic. One tool that no one mentioned is the “Life Recovery Bible,” which has references and stories and helps to the 12 steps. I found it at a salvage store years ago and figured it was probably out of print, but when I went online to try to find one for a friend, I found it. It is tender and gentle and I love it.

I’m Beth, alcoholic. Jamie if you have insurance I really recommend detox. You don’t have to have the shakes to benefit from it. It helped me a lot. Call your insurance co and see what they would pay before you make a decision. Remember AA meetings are always free, so that’s your other good option. I am going to concentrate completely on AA…[Read more]

I’m Beth and I’m an alcoholic. Nicki I’m so glad you have a sponsor. I have also just started and I don’t have a sponsor yet because we have very few in-person meetings in my town, but I’ll get to go to one tomorrow. I doubt if your sponsor will give up on you. Just talk to her. Tell her that you’re scared she’ll give up on you. Ask for h…[Read more]

Just getting started. Before I went to detox last week I was terrified. I drank in the car all the way to the detox center. (My husband drove.) Now I can say I am honestly excited about this journey. I went to my intake at the local therapy center and have started my AA meetings. I feel hope again.
