I thought this would be a good topic because it wasn’t until I understood the reason why I was a chronic relapser that i was able to identify and come to terms with the defects that were hidden but killing me from the inside out. Â I also came to believe in the spirit.

B-rad started the topic Dealing with cravings in the forum
Alcohol Recovery Group 8 years, 10 months ago
How to handle cravings has been a huge issue for many recovering alcoholics – myself included. We’re going to have them. In medical terms, a lot of times, cravings and the mental urge to drink can be attributed to PAWS, or Post Acute Withdrawal Syndrome. When you enter sobriety, your body and mind goes into shock. All of a sudden, a chemical that…[Read more]

Hi Alison. Addiction is… Well… Cunning, baffling and powerful. We do things that we would NEVER normally do. The only thing that matters is the next drunk or drug. But you’re not alone. And you never have to have another drink or another drug ever again. “Rarely have we seen a person fail who has thoroughly followed our path.” Stick with it.…[Read more]

Today’s Hazeldon “Thought for the Day” was thought provoking. What are your thoughts?
We’re in A.A. for two main reasons: to keep sober ourselves and to help others to keep sober. It’s a well-known fact that helping others is a big part of keeping sober yourself. It’s also been proved that it’s very hard to keep sober all by yourself. A lot of…

I’ve been doing alot of research on codependency. What I’m figuring out sober is that I was drinking so many codependent behaviors away. Or I was attempting to. Now sober I realize this is something I need to face in order to stay sober.

Maude replied to the topic Having an extended relapse in the forum
Women in Recovery 8 years, 11 months ago
I’ve relapsed repeatedly for the past two years. Sober today for thirty days and I am at peace. I think the main reason I kept relapsing is I couldn’t let go of the toxic shame I’ve had inside of me since I was real little. Plus all the shame I had from years of drinking.  I also had a hard time believing there was a God out there that did…[Read more]

Hello Ladies. I’m Maude and I’m an alcoholic. Tomorrow will be thirty days since my last relapse. I’ve been struggling for the past two years trying to get sober after twenty five years of binge drinking. I do alot of research online and will try and post different links as I find them.
